What does the hire price include?

The full list of contents can be found on the INVENTORY page. It includes:

  • VAT
  • 250 miles per day
  • Comprehensive insurance and breakdown cover within the UK (European Cover £17.50 per day;)
  • Campervan specific Satellite Navigation
  • Full bottle of gas
  • Camping table and 4 chairs
  • Cutlery, crockery, pots and pans

What do I need to bring?

How do I make a booking?

  • Choose a model from our website
  • Check your preferred dates on the vehicle booking calendar
  • Place your booking online
  • To secure booking we require a £200.00 deposit
  • The remaining balance is due 28 days prior to hire
  • If your preferred dates are not available, please email us on bookings@campervanhiredorset.com to register your interest in case of a cancellation or if another vehicle becomes available

Can I drive your motorhomes?

All our motorhomes can be driven on a normal UK B2 car driving licence.

Drivers must be over the age of 25 and under the age of 75, in good health, and must have held a full UK driving licence for a minimum of 2 years. Drivers from overseas must produce a valid Licence for their country of origin. We regret that we are unable to insure provisional license holders, persons of no fixed abode or scrap metal merchants.

Drivers holding more than 6 fixed penalty points on their license are advised to contact us prior to placing a booking.

No one other than the drivers named in the insurance proposal form may drive the vehicle.

What time can I collect/return the motorhome?

Standard collection times are from 2.00 pm – 3.00 pm.
Standard return times are 8.30 am – 10.00 am.
PICK-UPs and DROP-OFFs can be requested outside of these times for an additional “Out of Hours” fee, however we reserve the right to amend or reject your booking if it conflicts with other bookings.
Please allow at least an hour for paperwork and hand-over of the motorhome.

What do I need to collect the motorhome?

All drivers need to be present on collection of the motorhome.
We require a full valid driving licence with photo ID (must match proof of address) for every driver and Driving Licence check code from the DVLA website. These documents can be uploaded on the website on the Manage My Booking page.

We also require at least two forms of proof of address, these include:

  • A utility bill
  • Council tax bill
  • Bank/credit card statement
  • Mortgage statement

Is there a minimum hire period?

A minimum hire period of 3 nights applies from October to March (off season), from April to September it is a 7 night minimum.

What is the security deposit?

As with all motorhome hire companies, there is a refundable security deposit of £1,000.00 payable either prior to collection or upon collection of the motorhome on a credit or debit card. The security deposit will be refunded to you, minus any deductions (if applicable) within 21 days of return of motorhome. This is to allow time for any parking or speeding tickets to arrive.

Is there any excess on the vehicle insurance?

There is an insurance excess of £1000.00 on the policy, however this is not payable in the event of any accident as this will be taken from the security deposit detailed above. Windscreen cover is included within the UK with an excess of £200, deductible from the £1000 security deposit in the event of a claim.

What happens if the motorhome breaks down?

In the unlikely event you experience a breakdown, all motorhomes have a 24 hour, 7 day breakdown/recovery throughout the UK. For European breakdown cover you will need to select additional European coverage when you make your booking.

What are the speed limits that apply to motorhomes?

As all of our fleet have an unladen weight of up to 3050kg, they are therefore subject to the same speed limits as cars. For guidelines please visit www.gov.uk/speed-limits. For speed limits in Europe please refer to the country-specific speed laws.

Can I take the motorhome abroad?

Yes, however there is an extra charge to cover the added insurance and breakdown cover.

The extra charge is £17.50 per day of hire.
The extra charge includes:

  • European Breakdown Cover
  • European Insurance Cover
  • European Travel Kit

Can I take the motorhome on a ferry or the Eurotunnel?

Yes, your motorhome can be taken on a ferry or Eurotunnel, you will need a registration number and length of vehicle at the time of booking.

Can I take my pet?

Unfortunately we do not allow pets within our motorhomes. This ensures a better experience for other hirers including those with allergies.

Can I take the Motorhome to a festival?

Unfortunately we do not allow usage at any festival including Glastonbury Festival. If we have reason to believe that the vehicle has been used as festival accommodation we reserve the right to impose a cleaning fee of £200.

Can I leave my car at your depot?

Yes, you can leave up to 2 vehicles with us, in a secure gated compound with CCTV. However it will be left at your own risk.

What does the motorhome come with?

Is there air conditioning?

There is air conditioning in the cab which when driving will filter through to the habitation area.

What works from the leisure battery?

  • Lighting
  • Water pump
  • TV

Are there electric sockets in the motorhome?

There are at least 4 230v electric sockets throughout the motorhome, however you will need to be connected to an electric hook-up point.

How does the fridge work?

There is a 3 way fridge, this means that it will operate via the engine battery whilst driving, the electric hook-up when on-site or if there is no electricity available, via the refillable LPG gas bottle.

Is there heating and hot water?

Yes, the motorhome has a boiler that provides heating and hot water. As it is a combi boiler, it will work off electricity or gas.

Is bedding included?

We provide a mattress protector, you will need to bring your own duvet and bottom sheet, pillows or sleeping bag.
